Studio residency supported by East Quay and Somerset Art Works Project Development Bursary.

This four-week funded residency provided dedicated time and space to develop new work exploring the coastline around Watchet. Working across two contrasting beaches; Helwell Bay, renowned for its rich fossil beds, and West Street beach, whose exposed mud and rock formations create an almost lunar landscape at low tide, I investigated the cyclical rhythms of the shoreline through photography and experimental analogue processes. During the residency I created a series of cyanotypes exposed and developed in response to both high and low tides. I also produced Cycles, a new black-and-white 35mm slide projection installation, hand-processing the film in a developing tank. Together, these works reflect an ongoing fascination with geological time, tidal movement and the relationship between land and sea.
